On May 13, 2016, Westside Surgical Hospital and Breast Center hosted their first ever International Festival – Passport to Health. The festival was a celebration and showcase for the diversity of talents from across the world uniting to promote healthy habits.

The back patio of Westside Surgical Hospital and Breast Center was filled with an eclectic and colorful array of artwork, culture and dance. Each culture had 3 countries represented, which included: United States, China, Japan, Philippians, Pakistan, Nepal, India, Haiti, Jamaica, Trinidad, Syria, Jordan, Egypt, Uganda, Nigeria, Cameroon, Mexico, El-Salvador, and Colombia. With multi-cultural booths from around the world, the adventure started at registration. Guests were given a flag and passport to use as they traveled from one booth to the next obtaining health facts, tasting cultural foods and receiving giveaways.

The festival showcased singers and dancers in various performances in their native language and culture. This included a blend of tunes from around the world including the sounds of the Caribbean, Africa and India. One of the guest favorites seemed to be an exotic belly dancer with flaming knives who had no difficulty keeping the audience entranced.

Westside Surgical Hospital and Breast Center is dedicated to cultivating and educating the community on their cultural heritage with their peers around the world and looks forward to an even larger festival in 2017.
